Matthew Siegel is a poet and prose writer from New York currently living in San Francisco. His first book of poems Blood Work won the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry from University of Wisconsin-Madison and was published in 2015. That same year Blood Work was released on CB Editions in the U.K. where it was shortlisted for The Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection by the Forward Foundation. Siegel's poems and essays have appeared in The Guardian, Indiana Review, Ninth Letter, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. A former Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford, he holds an M.F.A. from University of Houston and is a member of the general education faculty at San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
