Matthew Siegel was born in New York City and raised in nearby Rockland County, NY. A graduate of Binghamton University, he holds an MFA from University of Houston where he taught writing and literature for three years. Additionally, he has worked as a writer-in-residence with Writers in the Schools for two years teaching poetry to fourth graders. He has been awarded a fellowship to the Bucknell Seminar for Younger Poets as well as a work-study scholarship in non-fiction to the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. Work is forthcoming in Lo-Ball, Ninth Letter, and Washington Square. He is a 2009-2011 Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University and lives in San Francisco. When in New York, he often collaborates with the Intangible Collective.
